The student body is led at
athletic events by the yell leaders. Their purpose is to lead yells and keep the Twelfth Man always
vocal in support of the team. Yell
leaders were first used in the 1880's when freshmen were sent out of the
stands by upper classmen to conduct the cheering. In recent years the yell leaders have been selected by vote of the
student body. Yell leaders
are known best for their all white uniforms.
